MEeT ADDED For saturday!

9/18/2018

GREAT NEWS!!!
Our entire JV team will be competing Saturday at the St. Labre Invitational in Ashland. This is stellar news given that we were left in a lurch with the loss of the Butte Invite for our JV's.  SO... the TOP SIX ONLY will travel to Butte.  EVERYONE ELSE will compete head-to-head in St. Labre on Sat.  Our #7 and #8 Runners for Mtn. West (Varsity meet only -- 9/28 in Missoula) will be decided based entirely on placement at St. Labre.  This is so much more fair and so much more meaningful from a training perspective, so I am super pumped for everyone! I know this last minute change might be frustrating for some, BUT, please remember your athletes made a commitment to be part of this athletic team (not a club, and not an intramural program). This is a re-scheduled meet and the expectation is that athletes will participate.
Logistics aren't set yet, but here's what I know so far:
  • Bus will leave at 6:30am (ish?) with all athletes in attendance (Varsity is expected to go along to support their teammates and run their workout together)
  • We will provide lunch for the runners on our way home, but athletes need to supply their own healthy breakfast and snacks.  If you are willing to provide bus snacks for this last minute meet please email Mamie at mamiefritzwilson@gmail.com
  • Meet info, location, times, etc. are in this document.
  • Reach out via email or remind if you have concerns.  If you wish, an email thanking Mark Wahl for accommodating our request for a JV competition following the loss of our Butte meet can be sent to wahlm@billingsschools.org.

This week...

9/17/2018

Ok... LOTS of info... please read carefully.
  • BAD NEWS... due to the driver and bus shortage we will not be taking JV to Butte. Believe me when I say that the ramifications of this are well understood and Mark Wahl is trying everything to come up with alternatives. (Parents driving athletes to Butte to compete is NOT an option but we are trying to make a JV meet happen closer to home.) For what it's worth, JV football competitions were also cancelled so it isn't just XC taking the brunt.  We are going to continue business as usual this week with practice and keep working hard towards our goals of improvement -- at all levels, every week, no exceptions.
  • So... travel team for Butte ended up being decided this way:  Top 7 based on race time in Great Falls will run Varsity. Carsen and Kendra will be the 8th runners who will serve as alternates and run in the JV race (based on their performances as our 7th Varsity in GF and the impacts having to run alone had on their times.)
    • Rosters for Butte
    • Information regarding the Butte Meet, Race Start Times, Locations, Map, etc. can be found here.
  • GOOD NEWS... we had lots of impressive results in Great Falls, the team photos link has some great shots from D. Madrill and C. Aragon, our team was well represented at the Glow Run and the MT Marathon, and we have a team dinner this week :)
  • FROM MAMIE this week:
    • Happy Monday Parents!
Thank you all so much for all of the support for our XC team and athletes so far this season! We have another busy week ahead of us. On Thursday our Varsity will be traveling to the Butte Invite, and we have our last  team dinnerWednesday evening.
Our volunteers for this week are:
Locker Decorations:  M. Kiekover-  Girls and Boys
      Bus Snacks:  K. Smith, A. Babcock, K. Burge, & I. Kraske
Team Dinner:  HOST- Bentler Family   302 Beverly Hill BLVD
                                 HELPER- J. Cook
                               HELPER- A. Taylen
Athletes bring: SALAD- M-Z,  DESSERT- A-L
Thanks and have a great week!
